Pre-order arriving mid February.

In this issue you can expect to find lots of menswear chat from emerging new brands such as Personal Effects, Dr Banana & Parlez, as well as two more established sportswear brands Hummel & Reebok. Mark has also waxed lyrical on corduroy and I’ve gone off on one about the importance of getting outdoors, ideally in a very expensive jacket. We’ve also got a sneak peek at Tokyo’s coolest clothes shop Waiting Room as well as some splendid shoots from our favourite UK retailers.

On a dystopian tip we’ve got a piece about the new Rough Trade book on cult film ‘They Live’ alongside a lengthy chat with war correspondent Jake Hanrahan about death and destruction and that. Bringing things back on a positive tip one of our musical heroes Steve Mason has very kindly done us a favourite five.

Please note cover may be different from image shown.

Proper is an independently-produced menswear magazine, website and creative agency.

Proper began life as a fanzine more than a decade ago, and has evolved from cult status into a collectable menswear title, now printed four times a year and distributed all over the world.

We work with respected brands such as adidas, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Clarks Originals, Barbour, Edwin and Baracuta, together with a variety of smaller independent labels.

Founding editors Neil Summers and Mark Smith continue at the helm to this day, now working on Proper full time from their Manchester base. Neil’s background is predominantly working in television, though he’s completed various side projects for Levi’s, Timberland and of course adidas. Mark began writing for fanzines as a teenager, eventually founding his own football publication. He was one of the founding editors of the seminal Stand Fanzine, while in his work life, he first put down roots at Oi Polloi, cementing their unique and irreverent style and working on both digital and print projects. He also oversaw their social media presence. He has since worked for brands such as Reebok Classics UK, Klattermusen, adidas Originals and more than a dozen others.

With a solid base from which to work, Proper looks forward to making its mark in 2017, working on high profile projects for brands you’ve heard of, while building on the magazines, mugs and t-shirts produced in recent years.
